Sunday Evening Prayer Gatherings 6pm @ S Chad

“Hear me as I pray, O Lord. Be merciful and answer me!
My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with
me.”
And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.””
(Psalm 27:7–8, NLT)

A series of Sunday Evening Prayer Gatherings
 18th, 25th November, 2nd and 9th December

It will be a chance, as we enter the Advent season with all its busyness,
to once
again humble ourselves and earnestly pray for a powerful move of the Holy Spirit
in our hearts, our lives, our church and our community

“Let our hearts be joined together; let us unite our wishes and prayers; let our
whole soul pant after a general revival of pure religion and undefiled, the
restoration of the image of God, pure love, in every child of man!”
(John Wesley)

Would you like to contribute a prayer
for the 2019/2020 Methodist Prayer Handbook?

The theme for the Handbook is inspired by Our Calling and will be ‘responding to the gospel’.
It will
explore how we are called to respond to the gospel by demonstrating God’s love,
grace and generosity.

The editor also welcomes prayers on the following themes: the integrity of creation,
the comforting presence of God, justice, adoration and thanksgiving, confession,
times of life and times of day.

Prayers should not exceed 120 words and should be emailed to
prayerhandbook@methodistchurch.org.uk
by the deadline which is 11 January 2019.

The editor would also love to receive any photos that you may have that would
help to bring your prayer to life or that capture the work of the Methodist Church,
either in this country or around the world. Photos should be your own copyright.

Please email the image in its original file size to  prayerhandbook@methodistchurch.org.uk

You can download full details from the Methodist website here

A small but brave donkey named Bo yearns for a life beyond his daily grind at the village mill.
One day he finds the courage to break free, and finally goes on the adventure of his dreams.
On his journey, he teams up with Ruth, a loveable sheep who has lost her
flock and Dave, a dove with lofty aspirations.
Along with three wisecracking camels and some eccentric stable animals, Bo and his new friends follow the Star and become accidental heroes in the greatest story ever told - the first Christmas.

Oldham Night Shelter

Would you be willing to help in Oldham Night Shelter in January - March 2019?

There will be a initiative in Oldham from January to March with seven churches providing night shelters.
East Oldham Methodist Church will be providing a night shelter each Saturday from the 5th January to the 30th March. We are looking for 3 categories of volunteers to support this important project.
This includes those preparing and serving food, listeners and those staying overnight.

To volunteer or for more information please speak to Mike or Linda Kendrick.
We hope to recruit most of the volunteers by the end of November so volunteers can have completed the application process and training by mid December

Thank you
