   South Chadderton Foodbank

NEEDS YOUR HELP!

South Chadderton Foodbank is open at church each Monday between 11am and 2pm. It operates as part of the Oldham Foodbank and is managed by  a team of volunteers from church and the local community

The take up of the Foodbank in at South Chad has increased over the last month and more volunteers are needed.

Good discarded toys are needed to give to clients with children. Hand them into church and Paul will deliver. The Trussel Trust, which is the organisation that underpins the Foodbank advised that donated items, eg Christmas puddings should be Alcohol-free.

We would also like to set up a ‘Drop-In’ at the same as the Foodbank for people to be able to have a drink. In order for this to be viable   more volunteers are
needed. We will need at least 2 volunteers a week, so will need a minimum of 8, if each person did one week per month. At the moment we only have 3 volunteers! If you are willing to join the rota please see Mike Kendrick, Jennie Gilpin or Darren or sign the sheet in the lounge.

Once a month CAP (Christians against Poverty) host a surgery on debt advice.

A local councillor also has a surgery at church twice monthly.

Why not pop in for a tea/ coffee or even offer as a volunteer. Contact Mike Kendrick for more details on 07886688452

Oldham and Saddleworth Christians Against Poverty (CAP)

The local CAP Debt Centre opened in October 2012, established using funding of £44,000 provided by the Oldham and Saddleworth Methodist Circuit. The centre has proved to be highly successful in helping clients to deal with their debt problems, but it is estimated that the current funding will only last until Easter 2015. Since the centre costs around £1,150 per month to run, it needs 115 people in Oldham and Saddleworth to donate £10 per month for the project to continue. If you wish to help, donation forms are available in the lounge.
